Shepherding you to your next read

Shepherding you to your next read is something that I haven’t really given much though to before. A fairly new website, Shepherd, helps readers to find new authors.

How does it work?

An author will come up with a list of books that they have read and recommend that are in some way linked to their own work. They then make a list of five books and write a bit about why the loved each one of them. It’s a great way to not only shepherd someone to their next favourite book, but also to promote the authors book.

Shepherding you to your next read with my new list.

What I’m Shepherding you to read next

I won’t give the whole game away, you’ll have to hop along to the website to do that. But I will tell you the theme for my books: The Best Books About the Adventures of Female Amature Sleuths. Fit’s quite well with the Body at Back Beach doesn’t it?

You can find my list by clicking here.

A New Zealand Mystery – available in NZ

A New Zealand Mystery like the Body at Back Beach should be available in NZ? Of course, it should. But with no locally-based Amazon, it can be a bit of a hassle buying books from Australia, or even further abroad. Good news though, this great mystery is available locally.Books

NZ online bookstore

It may have taken a little while for this Kiwi mystery, set in Port Chalmers, to arrive in New Zealand. But The Body at Back Beach is now on the shelves at the Nile. You can order your copy here. Hopefully, it won’t be long before it’s also available in physical bookshops in the country too. If ebooks are more your thing, then you can get hold of it on kobo, apple books and more. A New Zealand Mystery

Set in Port Chalmers, this small town, cozy mystery could be just what you’re looking for:

Helena Statham never imagined herself as a sleuth. But when she stumbles upon the body of a young woman while on a walk, she can’t resist the urge to discover who she was and how she got there. Even if it means upsetting the tight-knit community of the small New Zealand town she lives in, and uncovering secrets that have long been buried. Thirty years ago, a young woman went missing, but no one tried to find out what had happened to her. As Helena investigates deeper, she learns more about what took place back then, putting herself in danger now. Join Helena on her journey as she becomes an unlikely amateur detective, determined to uncover the truth and bring justice to the long-forgotten young woman whose story has been buried in silence for far too long.

A New Zealand Murder Mystery

There are a few New Zealand Murder Mystery books out there. From the delightful books of Ngaio Marsh to more recent authors such as Wanda Symon or Paul Cleave. There’s now a new author on the scene, with her first book now out.

The Body at Back Beach a New Zealand Murder Mystery, shown on an e-reader with a cup of black coffee next to it lying on an orange piece of cloth at the bottom and blood splatters on the boards on which it sits. Perhaps there was really a murder here.

Murder Mystery from New Zealand

The Body at Back Beach is set in Port Chalmers, a small town near Dunedin in Otago. It’s not the kind of place that you’d expect a body to turn up. But that’s what happens here. Helena Statham can’t believe it when she stumbles across a skeleton. It’s not long before she becomes drawn into discovering who is behind the murder.
